Introduction

Shapes are ALL around us! Did you know that? I bet you didn't realize you were sitting at a rectangle shaped table, or sitting on a square shaped chair! Everywhere you look you see shapes. Do you see a circle? Do you see a triangle? Mrs. Hoffer is going to turn the class over to you, I need YOU to learn all you can about shapes so YOU can be the teacher!

Task

You are going to be the teacher! But before you do, you need to learn all you can about shapes After this webquest you will be able to say:

"I CAN identify shapes"
"I CAN name shapes"
"I CAN describe shapes"

So what are we going to do? We are going to watch a couple of videos all about shapes, then we are going to go on a shape hunt. So get your brains ready to learn, and away we go!

Process

Let's talk about SHAPES! This week we are going to work on flat shapes. But before we start doing our activity I would like you to watch these videos.

  

 

 

Now, can you look around the room and find a few of these shapes?

Now that we have watched the videos, and have a better idea of the shapes, we can get started on what we are going to do. We are going to go on a SHAPE HUNT!  There are two parts to this, so pay attention!

Step one:
Grab your iPad and take a selfie!

Step Two: 

Take your iPad and take a picture of the screen of which video you are watching. Then do a walk the room, and take 3 pictures of that shape.

Assessment

Now that we have a feel for our shapes. We are going to work on making our own.

Mrs. Hoffer will put you into a group, and assign each kiddo a shape. When it is your turn, you are going to teach your group all about your shape. Then the kis who are the learners will make the shape with pipecleaners. Then they will take a selfie, THEN take a picture of their shape with their iPad.

Then we switch. Until every student has taught their friends about their shape.
